The Stone Family ~ 31 Families of HOPE: Day 14


Meet the Stone Family!: Jeff & Jennifer, Alexander, Zachary, Samuel and Myah




Jennifer, what first tugged on your heart about the Fatherless?

As a teen I went on a mission trip to Jamaica and visited an orphanage.  I was taken back and heart broken.  In college I visited another orphanage in Panama, and knew that God was calling me to adopt.  Thankfully, my husband was open to adoption.


Tell us one unique thing about your family/ministry.

Our daughter was born with bilateral cleft lip/palate.  We are involved in our church as leaders in our Sunday School Class.  We are also the leaders of our church's foster and adoption ministry.


What was one challenge either before, during or after your child(ren) came home?

Sleeping.  It took months to sleep through the night.



If you could tell a family that was considering adoption one bit of advice what would it be?

If you feel God tugging at your heart to adopt, be obedient.  We did not have the money to adopt and God provided.  He will equip you for and with what you need!



What verse was especially encouraging to you during your adoption journey?


I can’t do just one verse, the passage is so fitting:


Ephesians 3:14-21
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.



Share one blessing that has happened because you said YES and followed God on this journey.

Our obedience has been an example to others and now they are adopting too!



If you could share one other thing that is meaningful to you on the topic of adoption/orphan care, what would it be?

The adoption journey is far more than just going to adopt a child.  It is a walk of faith.  My relationship with the Lord was strengthened through our journey.  I had to truly trust in the Lords perfect timing and know that his ways are far better than my own!
