A Momma's Heart - Always Growing

Today I have a guest post over at Hearts at Home blog with Jill Savage.  You can go there today for a chance to win a copy of 31 Nuggets of Hope!

Anyway, I got to thinking this morning about how a Momma's heart is always growing.  As our children grow and their needs change, so must our heart!  Sometimes that growth comes easy.  Other times it's quite painful.  As a mom, you'll likely face seasons you would never have signed up for.  Still, your heart must grow if you are going to love your children well.

Looking back, I can see several significant times my heart has had to grow.  My heart grew as I became a new mom during a very difficult season in my life.  You can read about my 'lil miracle here.  My growing heart was filled with joy when he chose and committed his life to her ... my new daughter blessing.  Sometimes it's questions that my daughters have of their early days that causes my heart to need to grow.  And nothing has grown my Momma heart quite like our adoptions.  Bringing home our youngest grew me into such a better Momma.

Currently, my heart is growing in a very new way.  After nearly 20 years of mommy-ing I am facing a season that is very new to me.  I'll be sharing about that in the days to come.

But for right now, I just want to encourage you that no matter what you're facing - no matter what season you are currently in - you can trust God in your mommy-ing journey.  He is trust-worthy both in the mountain top moments and in the valleys.  He is GOOD.  He is ALL-KNOWING.  Nothing catches Him by surprise.

Recently I wrote about the HOPE that is offered to us as moms in my first book.  {It comes this week! - eeeekkkk!} While 31 Nuggets of Hope was written to adoptive and fostering moms, ALL moms need reminded that there is HOPE.

What I love about Hearts at Home conferences is how they meet moms right where they are, in their individual journey and gently direct them to the source of all Hope.  Be sure to check out their website and all the resources they offer!

Guest Post at Nourished Hearts

All families need support to thrive.  Adoptive and fostering families have some unique needs as well.  Today I want you to know about Nourished Hearts.  My friend, Kim de Blecourt has a huge heart for orphans.  She is also the author of Until We All Come Home: A Harrowing Journey, a Mother's Courage, a Race to Freedom, which releases this fall.  Kim asked me to share a bit about 31 Nuggets of Hope.  There was a journey leading up to writing 31 Nuggets.  Our Weakness + His Greatness = True Hope, friends.

Time and again in life, I experience God’s greatness in my weakness. When I was abandoned and the enemy brought destruction, God brought me life.  When memories and scars from childhood trauma fought to rob me of a healthy future, God brought healing.  When financial disaster tried to take my family down, the Faithful Father sustained.  When betrayal left me feeling confused and hurt, He spoke, “You belong to me, child!”
The Father takes the broken, the wounded, the weak and weaves HIS LIFE, HIS HEALING and HIS SUSTAINING POWER into them to accomplish more than the strongest of people ever could.  In our weakness, we experience His greatness.
GO TO NOURISHED HEARTS for the rest of the story.
